Designed by Ferdinand Porsche and built by Volkswagen, the Kubelwagen and its amphibious cousin the Schwimmwagen were to the Germans what the Jeep was to the Allies and were used widely by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS in the Second World War.

Biographical Note:
Chris McNab is an author and editor specializing in military history and military technology. To date he has published more than 40 books, including A History of the World in 100 Weapons (2011), Deadly Force (2009), The Roman Army: The Greatest War Machine of the Ancient World (2012), and The Soldier (2016). He has also written extensively for major encyclopedia series, magazines and newspapers, and he lives in South Wales, UK.
